The processor performance in today's consumer electronics is steadily increasing and it is now common to have main processors with several hundreds of MIPS. This high performance allows cost reductions by using software to implement tasks that have traditionally been done by separate complicated hardware components.
Technology availability
Fastrax's software based GPS technology is available as two versions:
1) Fastrax Software GPS
- For high-end application processors
2) Fastrax Accelerated Software GPS
- For low- and mid-end application processors with reduced MIPS resources
Fastrax's solution is targeting high volume consumer electronic devices, such as cell phones, E911 phones, laptop computers, digital cameras and Personal Navigation Devices.
